Texas’ top 10 highest-drafted NBA players of all time

Honorable mentions:

Trae Young, No. 5

The Lubbock native was a part of one of the biggest draft day deals in NBA history, with a swap between the Atlanta Hawks and the Dallas Mavericks during the 2018 NBA Draft. With the Mavericks jumping up to get Luka Doncic at No. 3 and the Hawks landing Young at No. 5, the deal has worked well for both sides as the playmaking point guard has become a two-time All-Star in his time in the league.

Chris Bosh, No. 4

In one of the most stacked draft classes of all time, the Dallas native heard his name called early by the Toronto Raptors in the 2003 NBA Draft, which saw upcoming Hall of Famers in LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony selected just before him. Bosh would go on to win two titles with the Miami Heat and became an 11-time All-Star.

Micheal Ray Richardson, No. 4

With the No. 4 selection in the 1978 NBA Draft, Richardson was selected by the New York Knicks in a top 10 that included Hall of Famer Larry Bird just two selections later. The four-time NBA All-Star would go on to play nine seasons in the league with the majority of his success coming during his early run with the Knicks.
