Christian Braun could join elite group of NCAA, NBA champions
Henry Bibby
Bibby came into the NBA knowing a lot about winning championships. During his time with the UCLA Bruins, Bibby helped the program win three consecutive NCAA titles from 1970-72 as the team’s starting guard. In those three seasons, Bibby averaged 14.4 points and 3.5 rebounds while being named to the All-Final Four team twice and a consensus All-American in 1972.
The guard was drafted in the fourth round, No. 58 overall by the New York Knicks in the 1972 NBA Draft. Though Bibby didn’t play many minutes as a rookie, he averaged 4.2 points and 1.2 assists in 8.6 minutes as he helped the Knicks win the 1973 NBA Finals. Though he never became a star in the league, Bibby did end up playing nine seasons in the league where he averaged 7.9 points, 3.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds before his son, Mike, also had a memorable 14-year run in the NBA.
