Taryn Kern enters transfer portal; 5 landing spots for star 

5. Kentucky

Kern’s connection to the Wildcats is a bit of a convoluted one, but it could make sense for the second baseman. During her high school career at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Diego, Kern was coached by Megan Yocke who just so happened to star for Kentucky in the early 2010s for current Wildcats head coach Rachel Lawson.

While Kentucky finished the year with a worse record than the Hoosiers, they were considered the better team by voters as they received 15 Top 25 votes in the final ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll published May 16. Given the connection between Kern, Yocke and Lawson, perhaps the former Wildcat will have enough influence to push the star slugger toward her former coach and alma mater.
