5 most dominant pitcher outings in NCAA Tournament history

4. Ed Bane, Arizona State vs. Oklahoma (1972)

The Sun Devils were only able to score one run against Oklahoma in the second round of the NCAA Tournament but that’s all Bane needed. Arizona State’s star pitcher struck out 17 Sooners as the Sun Devils won the game 1-0. Bane and ASU would go on to be College World Series runners-up after losing two straight games to USC. Bane would lead the Sun Devils to another CWS runner-up finish the next year. That year, he also threw the only perfect game in Arizona State history in a 9-0 win over Cal State Northridge during the regular season. Bane was later inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame and had his No. 21 jersey retired by Arizona State.
