5 most dominant pitcher outings in NCAA Tournament history
2. Steve Arlin, Ohio State vs. Washington State (1965)
In the CWS semifinals against Washington State, the Buckeyes’ ace threw 20 strikeouts over 15 innings to help Ohio State beat WSU 1-0. Arlin still holds the record for the most strikeouts and innings pitched in College World Series history. Ohio State ended up losing to Arizona State in the finals that year but Arlin and the Buckeyes were able to win the CWS the following year in 1966. That championship along with his performance in 1965 had solidified Arlin’s place in college baseball lore and he was inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.
