Zion Williamson trade rumors heating up; Top 5 landing spots
NEW ORLEANS (BVM) – With the NBA draft just days away, the Zion Williamson trade rumors are picking up momentum. On the “Bill Simmons Podcast,” Simmons said that Williamson will be traded and will be on a different team by the end of Thursday, the same day as the 2023 NBA Draft.
“I had somebody tell me yesterday that I trust that he (Zion Williamson) will not be on that team on Thursday,” Simmons said on the podcast. “I was like, ‘Really? I haven’t heard that.’ And they were like, ‘You watch.'”
Williamson has been a talking point recently due to off-court issues but there are other reasons that New Orleans is looking to move on from its former first overall pick. Williamson has only played in 114 games over the last four seasons. There have also been rumors about his dedication to the team. The Pelicans have made it to the play-in tournament the last two years and last year, they played well against the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs. The problem is that New Orleans’ best player isn’t out on the court.
However, when the 6-foot-6, 284-pound power forward is on the court, he is a two-time All-Star who averages 25.8 points and seven rebounds. That still gets plenty of teams excited about a player that entered into the league with a lot of hype around him.
The potential Williamson still has, the talent in the draft this year and the fact that crazy trades seem to happen all the time now in the NBA means that the 22-year-old could definitely be traded.
