Top 10 all-time leading passers in Utah HS football
4. Alex Kuresa, Mountain Crest (2007-10)
Although he graduated only a little over a decade ago, Kuresa is the oldest player on this list. Yet, his career during his time at Mountain Crest matches some of the best quarterbacks to ever come through Utah. As a senior, Kuresa led the Mustangs to the state finals as Utah’s Gatorade Player of the Year and a first-team all-state quarterback, throwing for 3,983 yards and 38 touchdowns. That’s part of 10,951 passing yards across Kuresa’s high school career, as well as 101 passing touchdowns which are the seventh-most in state history.
Kuresa endured a unique journey through the rest of his football career after his time at Mountain Crest, beginning at BYU, where his older brother, Jake Kuresa, had played in the early 2000s. After two years with the Cougars where he transitioned to wide receiver, Alex got back under center while playing at Snow Junior College back home in Utah which eventually led to an opportunity at Portland State. In his first season with the Vikings in 2015, Alex was named Big Sky Conference Newcomer of the Year as he threw for 1,975 yards and 17 touchdowns.
