D’Angelo Russell set for free agency; Top 5 landing spots
3. Houston Rockets
Joining the Rockets would be an interesting scenario for Russell, and place him in more of a rebuilding situation compared to most other teams on this list. Yet, it could very well be a potential destination for Russell, in part because Houston has the most cap space in the league, and could likely give him the highest pay day. The Rockets have a strong core of young talent, and one of the best players within that group is current point guard Kevin Porter Jr. Should Russell enter the fold, it’s possible he earns more of a sixth-man role, or the Rockets place him in the starting lineup and either have him, or perhaps more likely Porter Jr., play more off the ball. Regardless, the Rockets could use added depth in their backcourt, and the opportunity to play under new head coach Ime Udoka could be a valuable one for Russell.
