Top 10 highest-rated Colorado HS football players since 2000

10. Jon Major, LB, Ponderosa – 0.9612

Major was a true star during his time at Ponderosa High School, leading him to become a four-star recruit and top-100 player nationally in the Class of 2008. During his senior year for the Mustangs, Major earned state Gatorade Player of the Year and All-American honors as he quickly became Colorado’s top defensive prospect, racking up 153 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, eight sacks and 10 forced fumbles. Those stats were part of some incredible career numbers at Ponderosa that included 367 total career tackles and 14 career sacks.

Predictably, the 6-foot-2 linebacker had several Power 5 offers coming out of high school, but chose to stay home to play for the Colorado Buffaloes. Unfortunately, Major would begin his career in Boulder by tearing his ACL. Yet, he came back strong, eventually becoming a starter for Colorado as an upperclassman, finishing his career 47th all-time in program history with 225 total tackles.
