10 biggest 2023 MLB All-Star game snubs

5. David Bednar, RP, Pittsburgh Pirates

Bednar made his first All-Star game appearance in 2022. In 2023, he has posted even better numbers, yet still wasn’t selected to be part of the National League’s pitching staff in Seattle. While the Pirates have been up and down in a weak NL Central, Bednar has remained steady as one of the top closers in baseball, converting 16 of 17 save opportunities. The right-handed pitcher boasts a 1.44 ERA and 0.89 WHIP, and has struck out 37 batters on the year. Allowing just one home run while posting a rate of 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings further prove how dominant he has been, and are reasons why it’s fair to question his omission from the National League roster in the Midsummer Classic.
