Top 10 highest-rated California HS football players of all time
T-8. Jimmy Clausen, Class of 2007 – .9988
Clausen, like Sanchez, is another quarterback who parlayed standout high school and college football careers into an NFL draft selection. Oaks Christian School never lost a game that Clausen started during his high school football career (42-0) and in 2006 as a senior, he threw 49 touchdowns to lead the Lions to their first-ever Division III state title.
Dubbed “The Kid With The Golden Arm” by Sports Illustrated and considered a “once-in-a-decade” quarterback talent by recruiting analysts, Clausen committed to Notre Dame as the Fighting Irish’s most highly-touted recruit since Ron Powlus in 1993. He went on to throw for 8,148 yards and 60 touchdowns across three seasons (2007-09) with Notre Dame before being selected in the second round (48th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers.
