Top 10 Louisiana QBs for 2023 high school football season

9. Emile Picarella, Jr., University Lab

Picarella is the highest-ranked true quarterback in the Class of 2025 though he has yet to take a snap in Louisiana. That’s because Picarella spent his first two high school seasons in Mississippi playing for St. Joseph Catholic in Madison. During his sophomore campaign last fall, Picarella threw for 2,160 yards and 20 touchdowns while leading the Bruins to a 6-6 record.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound quarterback is ranked as the No. 7 player in Louisiana for the Class of 2025 and is the No. 1 ranked QB for the state in the class by Rivals. Thanks to this ranking, Picarella holds 10 offers from the likes of Kentucky, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss and Oregon among others. Picarella will look to not only live up to the hype in Louisiana but do so for a Cubs team that made it to the Division III Select Final Four with a 9-4 record last season.
