Every Pac-12 football program’s best season of all time

California: 1937

Cal football has a storied history with several successful teams dating back to the early 1900s. While the Bears have produced a lot of pro talent in recent years, their best all-around team came all the way back in 1937. Nicknamed the “Thunder Team,” Cal outscored its opponents by an impressive 214-33 margin, earning seven shutouts. A team that featured six All-Americans headlined by fullback Sam Chapman, the 1937 Cal squad went 10-0-1 under head coach Stub Allison, defeating Alabama in the Rose Bowl to finish the year as national champions while being ranked No. 2 in the AP poll.
