Top 10 most surprising cuts among NFL final roster decisions
5. Cade York, Cleveland Browns
This move came as a surprise due to the draft capital the Cleveland Browns invested in York just one year ago. The Browns selected York in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, a relatively high draft pick for a specialist, and it didn’t work out well for either party.
During his rookie campaign last fall, York converted on 24 of 32 field goal attempts, good for a 75% conversion rate, and 35 of his 37 extra point attempts, good for a 95% conversion rate. While it is clear York was almost guaranteed to make his extra point attempts, his field goals were much more difficult to judge and, after struggling again in the preseason, the Browns decided to cut their losses and waived York on Monday.
