10 longest win streaks to start a season in NFL history
T-3. Indianapolis Colts, 2009
Another team that started the 2009 season fast, the Colts narrowly beat out the Saints for the longest win streak of the year as they won one more contest than their adversary. Though Indianapolis held a 23-game regular season win streak entering its Week 16 game against the New York Jets, they controversially decided to sit key starters and lost the game 29-15. The Colts lost their final game as well after sitting their starters again going into the playoffs with a 14-2 record, but that didn’t stop them from advancing to the Super Bowl where they lost to the Saints.
