Ranking the 10 greatest rookie seasons in NHL history

10. Brian Leetch, New York Rangers (1988-89)

Leetch put together arguably the best rookie season for a defenseman in 1988-89, scoring 23 goals, which remains the NHL record for goals scored by a rookie blueliner. He also racked up 71 points that year, making the NHL All-Rookie Team and winning the Calder Trophy. Leetch placed 11th for the Norris Trophy that season.
