Ranking the 10 greatest rookie seasons in NHL history
5. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins (2005-06)
Crosby was expected to be a star after being selected No. 1 overall and he filled that role immediately. He broke the franchise record for assists (63) by a rookie and placed seventh in the NHL in points (102) that season. He was also thrust into an alternate captain role in December of his rookie campaign.
