Ranking the 10 best NFL rookie tight end seasons of all time
DETROIT (BVM) – Through the years, it’s been common to see tight ends in the NFL take a few years to realize their full potential. However, there have been a few exceptions.
Several notable NFL tight ends have been able to make an impact in the league from day one, and in 2023, there is another rookie tight end who is quickly rising to elite status: Sam LaPorta.
Drafted 34th overall this past April by the Detroit Lions, LaPorta has been special through the first five weeks of the 2023 NFL season, making 25 receptions for 289 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 11.6 yards per catch.

Should the Iowa product continue on this pace, he will likely finish his rookie year with numbers that rank among some of the best for first-year tight ends in NFL history.
