10 Eastern Conference breakout candidates for 2023-24 NBA season
6. Evan Mobley, C, Cleveland Cavaliers
Like a few guys on this list, Mobley has a chance to take the patented third-year leap in 2023-24, and seems poised to do so for a Cavaliers team that continues to get better. After averaging 15 points and eight rebounds as a rookie, the 6-foot-11 big man improved to score 16.2 points and grab nine rebounds per contest last year. He also increased his field goal percentage to around 55%, and maintained a steady presence on the defensive end of the court with 1.5 blocks per game. The No. 3 overall pick out of USC in 2021 has a realistic chance to average a double-double this season as the Cavs look to become legitimate contenders in the East.
