NFL MVP, award winners midway through the 2023 season
MVP: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Miami Dolphins
At 6-2, the Dolphins are atop the AFC East and are tied for the best record in the conference thanks to an incredibly high-powered offense. The lethal receiving duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle have garnered a lot of the headlines, as has a powerful rushing attack led by Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane. However, the captain of it all has been the quarterback, Tagovailoa.
On the year, Tagovailoa has thrown for 2,416 yards and 18 touchdowns while completing over 70% of his passes. The former No. 5 overall pick out of Alabama has thrown for 300 yards or more in half of the Dolphins’ games this season, and boasts a career-best 108.8 passer rating. Patrick Mahomes may be Tagovailoa’s top competition for the award currently, but if the Dolphins make a run at the No. 1 seed in the AFC and continue on a historic pace offensively, it will be hard to argue against giving the award to the Miami signal caller.
Others to consider: Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Christian McCaffrey
