10 teams with the best chance to reach Final Four in 2023-24

Darkhorse contenders

Creighton Bluejays

Creighton has made Sweet 16 and Elite Eight appearances in two of the last three seasons, and could take things one step further in 2023-24. Although the team lost star guard Ryan Nembhard, the Bluejays added a talented guard in his own right in Steven Ashworth who should fit well with some key returning contributors including Trey Alexander, Baylor Scheierman and 7-foot-1 center Ryan Kalkbrenner.

Florida Atlantic Owls

Florida Atlantic was the Cinderella of last year’s NCAA Tournament, but the Owls enter this season on everyone’s radar while sitting at No. 10 in the AP top 25. Although it’s hard to make back-to-back Final Four appearances, FAU will have every chance to, returning nearly all of its key players including Johnell Davis, Alijah Martin, Bryan Greenlee, Nicholas Boyd and Vladislav Goldin.

San Diego State Aztecs

Similar to the aforementioned Florida Atlantic, San Diego State made a surprise run to the Final Four last season. It may be a tough ask to do it again, but Brian Dutcher should have his guys ready as the team maintains an experienced and battle-tested core of seniors which includes Micah Parrish, Darrion Trammell, Jaedon LeDee and Lamont Butler.

Texas A&M Aggies

A couple of SEC teams also appear in the top 10 of this list, but when it’s all said and done, it’s quite possible Texas A&M makes the deepest postseason run among its conference foes. Last season, the Aggies suffered a disappointing loss in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, but were playing as well as anyone coming in. Having arguably the best player in the SEC in Wade Taylor IV and a veteran guard in Tyrece Radford returning will only help.

USC Trojans

More experienced teams like Miami (FL) or Arkansas could also warrant a mention at this point, but USC should not be slept on. The Trojans return star guard Boogie Ellis this season and also add the nation’s third-ranked recruiting class to the fold headlined by five-star Isaiah Collier. If Bronny James can return to health and transfer DJ Rodman pans out, USC could be looking at a deep tournament run in March.
