5 possible landing spots for free agent RHP Aaron Nola
PHILADELPHIA (BVM) – There are some big names entering free agency this MLB offseason, and one of those is Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola.
The former LSU star has been a part of the Phillies’ organization since Philadelphia drafted him seventh overall in 2014, and made his debut in the big leagues just a year later. Across his nine seasons in a Phillies uniform, Nola has gone 90-71 with a career 3.72 ERA, racking up 1,582 strikeouts in the process.
One of Nola’s best seasons came as the Phillies made a run to the World Series in 2022 in which he finished fourth in the National League Cy Young voting with a 3.25 ERA and a career-best 235 strikeouts. However, this past season, Nola was not quite as dominant, going 12-9 but seeing his ERA balloon to 4.46 while giving up the most home runs in a season in his career (32).
Even so, Nola proved to be a clutch playoff performer once again with a pair of three-hit shutout appearances in both a National League Wild Card contest and an NLCS start, following up what had been a strong showing in the postseason the year prior.
Now, the right-handed starting pitcher could be headed into the next chapter of his career as he enters free agency and aims to secure a rich long-term contract. Here are five potential landing spots for Nola.
