Brandon Woodruff non-tendered; 5 landing spots for RHP
MILWAUKEE (BVM) – The MLB non-tender deadline provided few surprises this season. However, one name stood out above the rest. The Milwaukee Brewers made the decision to non-tender starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff, a two-time All-Star and one of the top pitchers in franchise history, making him a free agent.

While the decision makes sense given Woodruff’s recent shoulder injury and projected $11 million arbitration salary, it was still a bit of a surprise to the everyday fan given the 30-year-old’s success with the team. Though Woodruff’s recent injury and injury history may give some teams pause, he does seem to be a popular name in the early going of free agency.
As I reported on @MLBNetwork a few moments ago, Brandon Woodruff is drawing interest from a majority of @MLB teams in free agency.
Woodruff is expected to sign a multiyear deal following surgery. The Brewers declined to offer him a 2024 contract at Friday's deadline.

Even if Woodruff misses most if not all of the 2024 season, his injury makes him seem like a good option for teams looking for an ace at a lower price. If he can recover well from his surgery, Woodruff could turn into one of the steals of the free agency cycle, much like 2023 non-tender players Cody Bellinger and Jeimer Candelario.
Two-time All-Star Brandon Woodruff with his career 3.10 ERA stands out on this list. Only here because he may miss most or all of the 2024 season after shoulder surgery. He’s expected to make a complete recovery. Many teams will inquire about a two-year deal. https://t.co/ZqOuNLVzns
