Brayden Schager transferring; 5 potential landing spots
4. Washington State
Though Washington State may not seem like a logical connection on paper, Schager could fit into the Cougars offense like a glove. Starting quarterback Cam Ward entered his name into the transfer portal, leaving redshirt freshman John Mateer, who has attempted just 19 passes in his career, as the starter.
The Cougars run an Air Raid offense which fits Schager’s skill set well. Add in the fact that offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle is a native of Texas who worked at the high school level in the state during Schager’s senior season at Highland Park and it is likely he’s aware of the quarterback’s skills. If the two decide to join forces in Pullman, it could make for another explosive offensive season for Washington State.
