Robby Ashford enters transfer portal; 5 landing spots for QB
4. Washington State
The Cougars are in need of a quarterback after losing starter Cam Ward to the transfer portal. Ward was an elite two-way quarterback, scoring lots of touchdowns with both his arm and his legs, much like how Ashford plays. In addition, Washington State defensive coordinator Jeff Schmedding spent 2021 and 2022 at Auburn and likely helped recruit Ashford to the program and had a relationship with him as a former Tigers player.
For Ashford, this would allow him to return to the Northwest where he originally played over his first two collegiate seasons and give him the opportunity to compete for a starting job. While he may not have the deepest connections to the Cougars, their need and offensive scheme could interest the signal caller.
