TJ Finley enters transfer portal; 5 potential landing spots

2. Washington State

During his season at Texas State, Finley mentioned that “the biggest thing is getting into an offense where I can showcase what I’m good at.” With the Bobcats, Finley did just that, so it would make sense that he’d want to find a similar offense to what he ran at the school. Well, Washington State could fit that mold.

Cougars head coach Jake Dickert served as the team’s defensive coordinator in 2020 and 2021 at the same time as Texas State passing game coordinator Craig Stutzmann served as co-offensive coordinator. With a quarterback-heavy Air Raid system, Dickert may want to add an experienced FBS signal caller to join incoming Bryant transfer Zevi Eckhaus and returning backup John Mateer. Finley would certainly fit the mold and, although Washington State is in the weird not quite Power 5, not quite Group of 5 that is the PAC conference, joining the Cougars would be a step up in competition for scouts.
