Top 10 NBA rookies through first half of 2023-24 season
4. Jaime Jaquez Jr., G, Miami Heat
Jaquez Jr. is one of the biggest surprises among this year’s rookie class and has fit in seamlessly with Erik Spoelstra in Miami. The 18th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft played four years at UCLA and his experience has proven beneficial for a Heat team in win-now mode. On the season, Jaquez Jr. is averaging 14 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals, shooting over 51% from the field and 35.3% from 3-point range. The 6-foot-6 guard has filled in as a starter for Miami and has been impressive while Jimmy Butler has missed time with injury, particularly in a Christmas Day win over the 76ers where he scored 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Jaquez Jr. is another great find by the Heat and will play a big role in their pursuit of a title this spring.
