Skyler Cassity has been named the defensive coordinator for the upcoming 2024 season at Sam Houston. Skyler Cassity previously worked as the defensive coordinator at Abilene Christian. Skyler Cassity has been named to both Dave Campbell's Texas Football's 40 Under 40 list and 247Sports' 30 Under 30 list. During his coaching tenure at Abilene Christian, the team posted its most wins in a two-year period since moving to Division I. Cassity comes from a football family, with his father, Mike Cassity, having spent 40 years as a college coach and his brother playing safety at Samford and another brother on the roster at Oklahoma State. Cassity's coaching career has included stints at Missouri State, Texas Tech, and Texas State. Cassity holds a Master's Degree in Sports Management and completed his undergraduate degree in Business Administration at Auburn. He has high expectations for the defense at Sam Houston and looks forward to leading the team into a promising future.
