Top 10 New Mexico HS baseball players in Class of 2024
9. Mekhi Brewer, OF, Hobbs
Brewer sports some power. Just ask opposing pitchers.
According to MaxPreps, only St. Pius X’s Gene Trujillo had more than Brewer’s nine homers last season. With Trujillo having graduated and moved on, Brewer remains New Mexico’s leading returning prep home run hitter.
An outfielder at Hobbs High School, Brewer also had a .513 batting average last spring and pushed across 50 runs while scoring 19 times himself. He’s an option on the bump, too, having put together a 3.83 ERA in 18 varsity appearances.
