A deal to acquire Jacob Markstrom from the Calgary Flames fell through, but the Devils should continue to explore the goaltender market. Vitek Vanecek and Akira Schmid have both had disappointing campaigns and are a big reason for New Jersey’s underwhelming 2023-24 season up to this point. But the Devils still have the talent to make up ground in the standings. A rental for a reliable, experienced goalie could be worth it.
