Caleb Williams transferring; 5 spots for D-III hoops star
ST. PAUL, Minn. (BVM) – The name may be familiar, but perhaps the game is not. Caleb Williams, a senior basketball star at Macalester College, announced his entrance into the transfer portal Tuesday. During his four seasons with the Scots, Williams averaged 19.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists across 80 games, all starts. This included averaging 20 points, good for No. 43 in D-III, four rebounds and 2.8 assists this past season.
Williams’ best game came at the best time for the 6-foot-2 guard. In an exhibition against the nearby Minnesota Golden Gophers, Williams dropped 41 points on 45% shooting and 41% from 3-point range while grabbing five rebounds and registering two assists. This game put Williams on the map, being featured in the Washington Post and drawing the attention of D-I programs.
Macalester’s Caleb Williams has entered the transfer portal, he tells me.

While Williams’ most notable performance came against Minnesota, it wasn’t the highest scoring this season. Williams dropped a career-high 51 points against Concordia College-Moorhead in January, further adding to his allure.
Given his excellent performance at the D-III level and his strong showing against D-I competition, Williams is an intriguing prospect in the transfer portal who could add to several programs with his excellent scoring ability. With that said, here are five potential landing spots for the grad transfer.
