Ilya Samsonov has been much better as of late, but does the front office and fanbase trust him as far as the postseason goes? It is no secret how big this year is for the “Core Four” in Toronto. If the team has another early playoff exit, it might be it for this group. The argument could be made that Saros is the best possible player who could be moved ahead of the deadline. Trying to acquire more stability in net with a top goaltender is not a bad idea. Maybe they could even swing a deal that lands them defenseman Alex Carrier as well.
