Saquon Barkley’s free agency: 5 landing spots for Pro Bowl RB
New York Giants
Division rivals like the Cowboys and Eagles could be in play to land Barkley this offseason, but a return to New York shouldn’t be ruled out. Tension likely grew between the running back and the franchise last year as the sides were unable to come to a long-term deal, leading Barkley to receive the franchise tag. However, Barkley has been open about his desire to play his entire career with the Giants in the past and has plenty of respect for the organization and its ownership. That likely doesn’t mean he’s returning at a hometown discount, but the Giants should have the cap space to give Barkley a new deal. It may be more of a risk than in the past based on his age, but Barkley is the face of the franchise and could remain a cornerstone as the team searches for its identity going forward.
