Top 10 Illinois HS baseball players in Class of 2024
1. Ryan Sloan, RHP, York
Sloan is likely to hear his name called early in this summer’s MLB draft and already has the looks of a big-league pitcher thanks to his 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame. Despite a lot of other talent in the state, Sloan stands alone at the top of Illinois’ senior class as his strong arm features a fastball that touches 95 mph to go along with a good breaking slider and a changeup. Last season, Sloan was dominant for York as he struck out 78 batters and walked just 12 hitters across 40 innings of work with a 1.05 ERA. Those numbers could be even better in his senior year before Sloan enters the next chapter of his baseball career, either at the MLB level or at Wake Forest.
