Askew was a top-30 prospect in the Class of 2020 coming out of Mater Dei High School and began his collegiate career with a productive freshman season at Kentucky where he scored 6.5 points per game.
From there, Askew transferred to Texas where he spent one season before joining the Cal Golden Bears. While Askew has looked good during his time in Berkeley, the trouble for the 6-foot-3 guard has been staying on the court. Last season, Askew put up 15.5 points per game but was limited to just 13 contests before his season ended due to a sports hernia.
In 2023-24, Askew was plagued by a foot injury that limited him to just six games as he averaged 6.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
While health is a concern with the talented guard, he has shown the potential to be a key contributor when on the court and has gained high-level experience with some of the top programs in college basketball. That could make him an intriguing option out of the transfer portal as he looks to join his fourth team in the last five years. Here are five potential landing spots for Askew.
