Ballo is a native of Mali who began his collegiate career by making the All-WCC freshman team at Gonzaga before transferring to Arizona ahead of the 2021-22 season. The 7-footer played somewhat sparingly during his first season in Tucson while playing behind Christian Koloko, but emerged as the Wildcats’ starting center the last two years and became a back-to-back first-team All-Pac-12 selection.
In 2023-24, Ballo averaged a double-double with 12.9 points and 10.1 rebounds while shooting an efficient 65.8% from the field. Ballo also averaged 1.3 blocks and was named to the Pac-12 all-defensive team.
The 7-foot center is an intimidating physical presence on both ends of the floor and immediately has become one of the top big men in the transfer portal. Here are five programs Ballo could play for in his final season of college basketball.
