Mark Pope leaves: Who will be BYU’s next basketball coach?

Burgess had been under Pope as an assistant for years, dating back to his time at Utah Valley. He followed him to BYU before taking a lateral job at his alma mater, Utah, in 2022. This could be a good chance for the 44-year-old to receive his first head coaching job. Burgess spent three seasons in total in Provo and returning to the area is on the table as he may be the favorite for the position.
