Mason Gillis transferring: 5 landing spots for forward

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (BVM) – A key piece of the Purdue Boilermakers national championship contending team is transferring. Senior forward Mason Gillis entered the transfer portal on Wednesday after five years with the Boilermakers. He will have one year of eligibility left thanks to taking a redshirt year as a freshman.

Gillis was the first player off the bench for Purdue and filled the role well, averaging 6.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 47.9% from the field and 46.8% from 3-point range. This performance earned Gillis the Big Ten Conference Sixth Man of the Year and all-conference honorable mention honors.

While Gillis did well off the bench, his move to the sixth-man role comes after three seasons where he started 63 out of 93 games. Gillis will likely be searching for a starting role in his final season and will have plenty of opportunities to earn just that. Here are five potential landing spots for the forward.
