Mitchell was a highly-touted prospect in the Class of 2022, committing to Texas as a five-star recruit while enjoying a strong high school career in Florida at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic and Montverde Academy.
Although he started all 38 games he played, Mitchell didn’t exactly live up to the hype as a freshman at Texas, averaging just 4.3 points and 3.9 rebounds in 2022-23. The 6-foot-8, 205-pound sophomore did show nice improvement this past season though, averaging 9.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 58.5% from the field.
There is no doubt that the former McDonald’s All-American still possesses a great deal of athleticism and talent, and a sizable improvement in his sophomore year should only increase the level of interest Mitchell receives in the transfer portal.
Here are five potential landing spots for the 6-foot-8 Texas forward should he return to the collegiate level next season.
