Phelps is a former three-star recruit who was a state champion and named Texas Mr. Basketball at Duncanville High School before beginning his collegiate career at SMU. The 6-foot-5 guard played only 15 minutes per game as a freshman but took a big leap forward during the 2022-23 season as he averaged 17.5 points.
Phelps’ scoring prowess was on display again this past season as he averaged 14.5 points while also putting up 4.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals per contest.
Although consistency has plagued Phelps at times throughout his college career, he has proven to be a valuable backcourt asset on both ends of the floor and should be a sought-after player during his stay in the portal. Here are five landing spots for Phelps.
