Desmond Claude transferring: 5 possible landing spots

CINCINNATI (BVM) – Xavier guard Desmond Claude has entered the college basketball transfer portal following two seasons with the Musketeers.

The 6-foot-6 sophomore developed into a four-star recruit during an impressive high school career in Connecticut that began at Hillhouse and concluded at Putnam Science Academy. Claude committed to Xavier over several other high-major programs and reaffirmed that commitment even after the Musketeers moved on from Travis Steele and brought in Sean Miller.

Claude saw relatively limited action as he played just 20 minutes per game as a freshman, but he was named the Big East’s most improved player in 2023-24 as he started 34 games and played over 33 minutes per contest. Claude’s numbers took a significant leap as he averaged 16.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 42.6% from the field.

With two years of eligibility remaining, Claude has a lot of upside as he enters the portal, particularly for teams that covet a big-bodied scoring guard. Here are five programs Claude could be playing for next year.
