Ranking the 10 greatest Toronto Blue Jays of all time
10. Jesse Barfield, RF (1981-89)
Barfield’s most-known asset was his arm.
He ranked first in the AL in outfield assists five times during his career, four of which came with Toronto. In 1986, he slugged a major league-best 40 home runs, made his only All-Star game, and collected a Silver Slugger.
The season prior, Barfield helped the Blue Jays to their first postseason appearance, which ended in a seven-game ALCS against Kansas City. He was also a two-time Gold Glover.
Barfield’s time in Toronto came to a close when he was traded to the New York Yankees in 1989.
