10. Paul O’Neill, RF
A five-time All-Star, O’Neill is one of 24 New York Yankees players to have their uniform number retired. He was born in Columbus, played prep baseball at Brookhaven High School, and took offseason classes at Westerville’s Otterbein University.
In 1994, O’Neill’s .359 batting average paced the American League. That season was also one of seven in which he slugged 20 home runs. He had at least 100 RBIs each go-round from 1997-2000. O’Neill began his major league career with the Cincinnati Reds, who drafted him in the fourth round in 1981. He won a World Series with Cincy in 1990 and four with the Bronx Bombers.
