8. Al Oliver, OF/1B
After passing through Portsmouth High School and Kent State University, Oliver embarked on an 18-year major league career, hitting .303 during that span.
He led the National League in batting average (.331), hits (204), and RBIs (109) in 1982, earning his third of three Silver Slugger awards. That was also one of two campaigns in which Oliver had at least 20 home runs.
He spent 10 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, winning the World Series in 1971. Oliver also played for the Texas Rangers, Montreal Expos, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Toronto Blue Jays. He was a seven-time All-Star.
