6. Ed Delahanty, LF

As the greatest natural hitter of his era, the Cleveland-born Delahanty slashed .346/.411/.505 during his 16-year career. He’s one of three major league players to turn in a .400 single-season average three times.

Delahanty led the NL in slugging average and RBIs three times each. He also pushed across at least 100 runs in seven seasons and scored 100 times himself 10 times.

In 1903, Delahanty died at age 35 after being swept over Niagara Falls. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1945.
