This marks the second time the 6-foot-7 forward has entered the portal in as many years. Following a terrific high school career at Trenton Catholic in New Jersey, Watkins spent the first couple of seasons of his collegiate career playing for Mike Rhoades at VCU. Watkins played just over 18 minutes per game as a freshman for the Rams before seeing more consistent usage during his second season on the court in Richmond where he scored nearly 10 points per game.
After showing potential early on in his college career, Watkins had a true breakout as he joined Florida State this past season, earning All-ACC honorable mention as he averaged 15.6 points, six rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.9 steals while shooting 45.7% from the field and 34.4% from 3-point range.
While there’s a chance Watkins goes pro, his breakout season and proven ability on both ends of the floor make him an intriguing late addition to the transfer portal. Here are five potential landing spots for Watkins if he returns to the collegiate level next season.
