10 players who could win first major at 2024 PGA Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BVM) – The 106th PGA Championship will tee off this week at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville as 156 golfers vie to win the season’s second major.

It’ll mark the fourth time Valhalla has hosted the PGA Championship dating back to 1996 when Mark Brooks took home the Wanamaker Trophy after winning in a playoff. It also took extra holes for Tiger Woods to win the fifth major of his career over Bob May in a classic at the course in 2000. Most recently in 2014, Rory McIlroy held off Phil Mickelson as the pairing played the 72nd hole in darkness to win his fourth major championship.

The 2014 victory at Valhalla remains McIlroy’s last win in a major, and that drought continues to be one of the biggest storylines this week. Several other headlines exist going into the 2024 PGA Championship as well including Scottie Scheffler’s attempt at continuing his dominance, Brooks Koepka looking to go back-to-back at the PGA Championship once again with a sixth major victory, and Woods aiming to remain competitive at a course where won the PGA Championship over two decades ago.

One of the other intriguing aspects of the year’s second major is the possibility of crowning a first-time major champion. Several golfers continue to knock on the door of winning their first major and multiple players seem poised to put themselves in position to do so come Sunday.

Here are 10 players who could win their first major at the 2024 PGA Championship.
