White Sox ‘open’ to Garrett Crochet deal: 5 landing spots
CHICAGO (BVM) – The Chicago White Sox have been the worst team in baseball through the first couple of months of the 2024 MLB season which will make them a seller at the league’s trade deadline over the summer.
Despite the team’s poor record, there have been a couple of bright spots on the roster, including talented left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet. However, according to a recent report by ESPN’s Jeff Passan, it appears the White Sox could entertain moving Crochet this summer along with fellow starter Erick Fedde and talented young outfielder Luis Robert Jr.
Crochet has gone 5-5 on the season in his transition from a relief pitcher to a starter with a 3.49 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. He has struck out 93 batters across 69 ⅔ innings with a solid 6.2 strikeout-to-walk ratio. It’ll likely take a significant return to acquire the 24-year-old Tennessee product, particularly as he is under contract through 2026, but he should have several interested suitors in the coming weeks as teams figure out what they will need in order to make a championship push down the stretch.
Here are five teams Crochet could be dealt to if the White Sox decide to move on from their young pitcher.
