Mitch Marner on trade block?: 5 possible landing spots
New York Rangers
The trade: The Rangers acquire Marner. The Maple Leafs acquire Filip Chytil, Braden Schneider, Brennan Othmann and Brett Berard.
The Rangers once again failed to make it to the Stanley Cup Final with the current core. Peter Laviolette provided a needed boost to the organization and it is unlikely that he is moved despite New York coming up short. Team president Chris Drury has shown that he is not afraid of making a splash and Marner may be the biggest fish in the pond. He would be a great addition to its forward group and he could be enough to get it over the hump.
Filip Chytil is a fan favorite in New York, but he is forgotten about from a national perspective due to the star power on the roster. He is still 24 years old and has All-Star potential. Schneider is already a valuable defenseman with the likelihood of improving at 22 years old. Othmann and Berard are two of the Rangers’ top prospects who combined for 97 points this season in the AHL.
