Mitch Marner on trade block?: 5 possible landing spots

The trade: The Blues acquire Marner. The Maple Leafs acquire Colton Parayko, Scott Perunovich and Zackary Bolduc.

The Blues missed out on the playoffs for the second year in a row and there are now questions around what they will do this offseason. If they are looking to acquire a big name, Marner could make sense as someone who could help them get over the hump. He would instantly be the team’s best player and point leader.

It may seem counterintuitive to trade St. Louis’ best defenseman, but it is in a position where it could add more blueliners in free agency. Parayko could be a coveted player for the Maple Leafs, and if he is a dealbreaker for them, the Blues should ultimately opt to move him. This trade would also include Perunovich and Bolduc, two big former prospects who have NHL experience. They could contribute in Toronto right away.
